Rheumatology

The Rheumatology department is based in Clinic C of the outpatient department at Edith Cavell Hospital.

We see patients with soft tissue musculoskeletal conditions as well as chronic inflammatory diseases.

We assess and treat many conditions within the department on the first visit, although we may refer patients on to other departments such as physiotherapy, X-ray for scans and orthopaedics for surgery.

The department includes:

  • Consultation rooms
  • Treatment room for day case treatments
  • DEXA suite, where we scan for osteoporosis
  • EMG (electromyography) which is a test for nerve and muscle function
  • Education room for teaching patients and relatives about long term conditions

We are a small friendly team and pride ourselves in providing a welcoming environment.

Patient information leaflets are available on request from the department.
