Neurology

We offer an outpatient service for all neurological disorders.  In addition to general neurology clinics, there are specialist first seizure/epilepsy clinics run by Dr Thorpe in conjunction with the GPs with a specialist interest in neurology (Dr Caskey and Dr MacDonald) and nurse-led multiple sclerosis clinics. There is a botulinum toxin service for torsion dystonia (torticollis) but currently not for other movement disorders or spasticity.  Patients with Parkinson's disease can be referred either to the neurology department or to Dr Guptha in Medicine for the Elderly, with whom there are good links, particularly through the Nurse Specialist.

The neurology consultants are also attached to the Regional Neurosciences Centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, which is where patients requiring inpatient investigation or treatment may be transferred.  Outpatients EMG and EEG are also currently located at Addenbrooke's.
